My website is building on my independent study Regional Variations in Media and Literary Depictions of Mexican Femicide. By analyzing regional narratives, the study sought to identify correlations between the portrayal of femicide and the local political, cultural, and legal landscapes.
I realized that this independent study couldn’t remain just that- independent. There’s value in creating accessible visualizations and learning materials across all subjects, but especially in the context of matters we may hear incredible misinformation about. So, whether you’re unfamiliar with the meaning of femicide and it’s impact in MX, or you’re a dedicated scholar looking to expand your reading list- this project serves as a powerful reminder of the way statistics can portray one story of brutality, but narrative has the ability to reclaim these stories and push back.
